ఖాట్మండు, ఆగస్టు 27: హిమాలయ ప్రాంతంలో ప్రకృతి మరోసారి తన ఉగ్రరూపాన్ని చూపించింది. నేపాల్–చైనా టిబెట్ సరిహద్దు ప్రాంతాల్లో సంభవించిన ఆకస్మిక వరదలు, కొండచరియలు, భారీ మట్టి–రాళ్ల ప్రవాహాలు తీవ్ర విధ్వంసాన్ని సృష్టించాయి.
Kathmandu, August 27: Nature has once again shown its destructive force in the Himalayan region. Sudden floods, landslides and massive debris flows across areas along the Nepal–China Tibet border have caused widespread destruction.
క్షణాల్లోనే నదులు ఉగ్రరూపం దాల్చడంతో గ్రామాలు, రహదారులు, వంతెనలు, విద్యుత్ ప్రాజెక్టులు వరద ప్రవాహంలో కొట్టుకుపోయాయి. వందలాది మంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోగా, ఇంకా అనేక మంది ఆచూకీ తెలియక కుటుంబాల్లో విషాదం నెలకొంది.
Rivers rapidly swelled, sweeping away villages, roads, bridges and power infrastructure. Hundreds of people have reportedly lost their lives, while many others remain unaccounted for.

ఈ విపత్తు తీవ్రతను కళ్లకు కట్టినట్టుగా చూపిస్తున్న ఓ వీడియో ప్రస్తుతం సోషల్ మీడియాలో వైరల్గా మారింది. నదీ పరివాహక ప్రాంతంలో పనిచేస్తున్న కొంతమంది కార్మికులు తమ పనుల్లో ఉండగా ఒక్కసారిగా భారీగా దుమ్ము, నీటి తుంపర్లు, మట్టి–రాళ్ల ప్రవాహం వారి వైపు దూసుకొస్తున్నట్లు వీడియోలో కనిపించింది.
A video showing the intensity of the disaster has gone viral on social media. The footage appears to show workers near a river suddenly confronted by a powerful surge of water, dust, mud and rocks.
ఏం జరుగుతుందో అర్థం చేసుకునేలోపే వరద ప్రవాహం వేగంగా దగ్గరకు రావడంతో కార్మికులు ప్రాణాలు కాపాడుకునేందుకు పరుగులు తీశారు. కొందరు ఎత్తైన ప్రాంతం వైపు పరుగులు తీస్తుండగా.. వీడియో తీస్తున్న వ్యక్తి కూడా పరిస్థితి తీవ్రతను గుర్తించి కెమెరాను తిప్పి తన ప్రాణాల కోసం పరుగులు తీశాడు.
Before they could fully understand what was happening, the flood rapidly approached and the workers ran for safety. Some moved toward higher ground while the person recording the footage also turned away from the scene and ran for his life.

వైరల్గా మారిన ఈ వీడియోను నేపాల్కు చెందిన వివేక్ శ్రేష్ఠ తన ఇన్స్టాగ్రామ్ ఖాతాలో షేర్ చేసినట్లు పలు వార్తా సంస్థలు పేర్కొన్నాయి. వరద బీభత్సంలో చిక్కుకున్న ఆయన అనంతరం హెలికాప్టర్ ద్వారా రక్షించబడినట్లు సమాచారం.
Several reports state that the viral video was shared on Instagram by Nepal-based Vivek Shrestha. Reports also say that he became trapped during the flood and was later rescued by helicopter.

News reports say that he described being caught in serious danger during the flood and later being evacuated with the help of a helicopter.

Flooding has severely affected areas along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems. Homes, markets, roads and bridges have suffered extensive damage from the powerful flow.
కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో గ్రామాలు, నివాస ప్రాంతాలు ఉన్న ఆనవాళ్లు కూడా కనిపించని స్థాయిలో బురద, శిథిలాలు పేరుకుపోయాయి. నదీ ప్రవాహం ఒక్కసారిగా పెరగడంతో అనేక ప్రాంతాల్లో ప్రజలకు తప్పించుకునే అవకాశం కూడా లేకుండా పోయింది.
In some areas, mud and debris have covered locations where villages and residential areas once stood. The sudden rise in river levels left many people with little time to escape.

More Than 160 Dead, Hundreds Missing
తాజా నివేదికల ప్రకారం నేపాల్, టిబెట్ సరిహద్దు ప్రాంతాల్లో ఈ విపత్తు కారణంగా 160 మందికిపైగా మరణించారు. వందలాది మంది గల్లంతయ్యారు. నేపాల్లోనే 157 మంది మృతిచెందినట్లు అధికారులు వెల్లడించగా, చైనా టిబెట్ ప్రాంతంలో కూడా ప్రాణనష్టం నమోదైంది.
According to latest reports, more than 160 people have died across areas along the Nepal–Tibet border, with hundreds still missing. Officials reportedly said 157 deaths occurred in Nepal, while casualties were also reported in China’s Tibet region.

Nepalese authorities, the military and security forces are continuing rescue operations with helicopters. With roads and bridges damaged, reaching several affected areas by land has become difficult.

Initial speculation suggested that an earthquake might have triggered the disaster. Later reports citing the U.S. Geological Survey said the seismic signal may instead have been associated with a debris flow caused by falling rocks and ice in a glacial area.

Floodwaters reportedly reached dangerous levels within minutes, leaving people with very little time to react. The footage of workers running for safety has offered a dramatic view of the disaster’s intensity.
